Sessions are 30 minutes in length. We are interested in presenters who can speak about Blogging but also social media as a larger issue but with blogging at its core.
A successful session is one where attendees can take away specific advice on how to make their blog better, whether it be increased security, best practices, building readership, etc.
Attendees also like to hear from speakers who can pull blogging into the bigger picture of corporate strategy, brand building, etc.
Here are some of the topics we’d like to see at this year’s WORD11. If you think you fit the bill, Please send in a proposal.
- History, Purpose, Promotion, Syndication & Current Trends
- Blog Types, Global Definition, Themes & Design
- Socialization & Traffic Generation, Tools & Utilities, Monetization
- Integration, Understanding the Code, Plug-in Development

Hi there!
I have 2 possible topic suggestions. I will be doing similar talks at WordCamp Miami, Montreal, and maybe SF. I would love the opportunity to come back to my home town and present at WCTO.
Title: Building a Community Around your Blog
Description: We will illustrate the benefits of adding a community forum to your WordPress blog/site. We will show you how easy it is to add forum plugins/widgets, integrate SSO (single-sign-on), and take advantage of the Vanilla API. We will also look at real world examples of high traffic WordPress communities that benefit from these features.
or,
The Evolution of the Website as a Community
The purpose of a website is to grow your audience. As your audience grows, how can you recognize when your website evolves from resource to interaction, and what are the dangers if you fail to recognize this transition? What tools should you use to provide your audience with a home, and how can you manage, grow and measure this evolving community?
Reflecting on over 10 years of experience building online communities, we will look at examples of websites that have grown into communities and tools they use to aid their success and growth.
I can also make them less brand specific. My goal is not to sell Vanilla, just use it as a case study. I have no problem discussing other systems such as bbpress and simplepress equally.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
